The time is near for the 2nd Annual Dusu Mali Fest! We are stoked and cannot wait to get this party started. The event will take place September 11th and 12th just outside of Silverton, OR. The venue is nestled in the foothills of the Cascades a one-hour drive from Portland (& Eugene!). The property is a beautiful wooded slope in the Silverton hills with a view of Mount Hood, and a short drive away from Silver Falls State Park.

The festival starts Friday at 6pm and wraps ups at 1pm on Sunday. Tickets are $40 for a weekend pass, or $25 for Saturday only. Presale tickets include a high-quality digital download of Dusu’s most recent album, Never Give Up, and are available for purchase until Wednesday evening 9/9/2015 at https://dusumaliband.bandcamp.com/merch/. Tickets will be available at the gate for cash only.

Parking is $20 per vehicle if you drive alone, and $10 per vehicle if you have two or more. Please carpool! Cash only!

Camping is encouraged, so bring your gear if you plan on staying overnight! Camping is dispersed throughout the woods down the hill from the stage area, and is included in the price of admission.

Please refrain from building any fires. We take this very seriously. There will be buckets of water placed around the property to be used in case of a fire.

There will be a Registered Nurse and First-Aid/CPR certified crew on-site throughout the duration of the event. Look for information on safety and medical at the festival information table.

Please bring cash for any food and drink purchased at the festival. Outside food and alcohol is discouraged. Please support our food and drink efforts to help make Dusu Fest a success! We will have a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks available in exchange for your cash donation (beer, wine, liquor, soda, coffee, tea).

Ibu will once again be cooking African food, also available in exchange for your cash donation. For dinner, meat options include chicken or beef Ibu-ritos (Ibu-style burritos) along with African-style rotisserie goat meat from goats from Wheatacres Farm in Wasco, Oregon. A vegan option with eggplant will also be available. Gluten-free options are available as well. For brunch, there will be scrambled eggs and sausage with hash browns.

Please leave your pets at home. Jake, the festival site owners’ dog, is great around people but sometimes not around other dogs. He’ll be the only animal on the grounds that weekend.

Dusu Mali Fest returns again!!

Initial Announcement Poster

We are thrilled to announce the second annual Dusu Mali Fest! This year’s throw-down will be two nights of live music, camping, Ibu-ritos, and other acts of agreeable outlandishness!

The venue is nestled in the foothills of the Cascades just outside of Silverton, OR, about a 1-hr drive from Portland (& Eugene!). The property is a beautiful wooded slope in the Silverton hills with a view of Mount Hood, and a short drive away from Silver Falls State Park.

We’re upping the ante this year with the stage placed under a newly constructed octagonal pavilion made from wood harvested and milled on site by the property owners, and we will be bringing it to life with professional sound and lighting wizardry.

Also once again, Ibu will be cooking a TON of food. You may know him on the guitar, but he is also an extremely talented chef. He will be combining all of the cooking knowledge he’s gained in the US with the traditional African cuisine. Seriously, you do NOT want to miss this food.

Dusu will be playing both nights, but keep your eyes peeled and your minds tuned in as more details and additional bands and performances will be announced soon.

Feel the rhythmn. Save the date.

Dusu it!

Dusu to Perform on a WWII Military Tugboat!

A collective called the Steam Radio Syndicate are a group of people that are retrofitting part of a WWII military tugboat into a radio broadcasting studio and event space.  The boat is docked in the Willamette just north of the Saint Johns bridge.  About a year of work has gone into making the space a place for music making, story telling and they’re gearing up for their first broadcast on May 30th from 8-midnight live on KBOO!  The first 2 hours of the broadcast will be lots of story telling, poetry readings, with live underscoring and transitions and then at 10 a two hour live concert with multiple acts.

Dusu will be performing songs in the beginning of the program, and will also play a short set during the live concert latter portion of the show.  This is a private event, but if you’d like to listen be sure to tune into KBOO FM 90.7!
